QA Automation Lead / Test Engineering Lead

About the role

Take ownership of the quality and automated-testing strategy for our SaaS product. This is a hands-on technical leadership role focused on designing, building and maintaining comprehensive automation frameworks and establishing strong quality standards across the product lifecycle. This is not a manual-testing position.

What you'll do

  • Own the overall QA and test-automation strategy.
  • Design, build and maintain scalable automated-testing frameworks.
  • Develop automated coverage for web, mobile, backend services and APIs.
  • Build end-to-end automation using Playwright, Cypress, Selenium or equivalent tools.
  • Develop backend tests using Pest or PHPUnit and web tests for React applications.
  • Implement React Native mobile testing across iOS and Android.
  • Build API, integration, functional, regression and smoke-test automation.
  • Implement database, data-integrity, role and permission testing.
  • Integrate tests and automated quality gates into CI/CD pipelines, pull requests and releases.
  • Implement performance and load testing.
  • Analyse defects with developers, identify root causes and convert significant defects into permanent regression tests.
  • Identify coverage gaps and continuously improve automation coverage.
  • Maintain test plans, test cases, automation documentation and QA reports.
  • Lead and mentor the QA team while contributing to sprint planning, reviews and release readiness.
  • Apply AI tools and agents to test generation, test data, coverage analysis, failure analysis, root-cause analysis and automation maintenance.

What we're looking for

  • Strong hands-on experience testing PHP Laravel applications, React web applications and React Native mobile applications.
  • Playwright, Cypress, Selenium or equivalent end-to-end automation experience.
  • Pest or PHPUnit backend-testing experience.
  • API automation and Postman experience.
  • Appium, Maestro, Detox or equivalent mobile-automation experience.
  • Jest, Vitest, React Testing Library or equivalent experience.
  • Practical implementation experience with AI-assisted testing and automation tools.
  • Git, pull-request workflows and CI/CD automated testing.
  • GitHub Actions, Bitbucket Pipelines or equivalent.
  • SQL and database-testing experience.
  • Performance and load testing with k6, JMeter or equivalent.
  • Automated regression, integration, functional and smoke testing.
  • Test planning, test-case design, defect management and root-cause analysis.
  • Experience working in Agile or Scrum SaaS product development.
  • Ability to understand a complex SaaS product, design the appropriate automation architecture and contribute personally to implementation.

Nice to have

  • Experience establishing or significantly improving automation within an existing SaaS product.
